Portrait Drawin'

Had a local Santa Fean come to the apartment and sit for a portrait. My roomie and I were the only ones drawing. It was the most chill figure drawing session I've done in a while (ever?).

Thanks for lookin'!

Damn dude this looks great! How long was the session? That sounds like an awesome time. May have to do that sometime. I just started going to the Philadelphia Sketch Club for drawing sessions, it's one of the oldest art clubs in the US. It's cool to think that Wyeth, Eakins and Parrish were all members there.

Thanks man! I think the total drawing time might have been around an hour and a half? We sort of stopped keeping track halfway through and ended up just chatting with the model throughout the pose. It made the time pass very quickly for both artists and model. I guess once you've put down your initial block-in and you've committed to it, having the model be stone-still isn't that big of a deal.

That's pretty awesome to get down on the organized sketch club. The apartment-drawing was borne from all the Santa Fe figure drawing groups either being super-exclusive or being an instructed class. It's great that you have something like that available to you!
